Is BARC having a Hamfest? Yes, but not as the Greater Baltimore Hamboree and Computerfest. The fairground had management issues and the long time manager of the fairgrounds is now gone. The facilities are in need of repair. On top of that the price to rent the building was over $14,000 by the time we paid for trash, security and heat. Instead, we changed the date and location. We will be on Fathers Day at the Arcadia Carnival Grounds. it is a better location and better chance of good weather. While more outside, the rental of the space goes to a volunteer fire company. They have a large area - which is used for events such as the Maryland Steam Show, there are regular Demolition Derby and Mud Bog events, also the Blue Grass Festival - Plenty of parking and space for outdoor tailgating and vendors.
So join us on Sunday June 21, 2015 for the BARC Father's Day hamfest in Upperco, MD. This exciting event features a giant flea market for traditional tailgating and food. Hours: 8 am.-2 pm. Location: the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company grounds, 16020 Carnival Avenue, Upperco, MD 21155 (go to hamfest page for directions). Contact: Dave Shadwell AB3TE, Hamfest Chairman--410-842-5019 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Event flyer in .PDF form.
We need people to help with the hamfest by contacting vendors and mailing information to them. We will need people the day of the event to sell tickets and help with logistics. This is Fathers Day. Please let us know if you are available to help.
ARRL Field Day is June 27-28, 2015. This is the largest on-air amateur radio event in North America. We are participating with the Hanover Area Hamming Association at their site at the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company. Do join us for a great time! Our Field Day event details

This was the actual 200th anniversary. Thank you to those operators who helped with the event. QSLs for W3B are only for this timeframe.

13 Colonies Special Event: July 1-6, 2014 -- 24 hrs. a day
BARC participated in the 13 Colonies Special Event as a sister event to the July 4th celebration. We represented the 200th Anniversary of the Star Spangle Banner. This was an important part in history and a huge event for BARC. Congratulations to those hams who made a clean sweep by working all the 1x1 stations plus the bonus stations. We hosted hams from all over the area as operators--a hearty Thank You to those who helped. We have uploaded to Logbook of the World and over 500 QSL requests by USmail and the bureau have been answered.
