August, 2020 meeting

Club President Hale N3NYC opened the August, 2020 meeting. A turnout of 15 people. Dave AB3TE gave the treasurer’s report. No mention of State financial filings. Dave AB3TE advised that monthly storage cost are our largest recurring expense. We are on schedule for the 2021 hamfest. VP Bill N3WD recapped his effort in this year’s 13 Colonies on-air event which represents the 13 US colonies plus bonus stations. Many worked Bill as K3F. New attendee Tom was welcomed to the meeting and given info for continued contact with the club. Recently new member Marty is now a General class and KC3PPV. He updated the group with the status of his station and spoke of his grounding project. Bud W3LL recapped his involvement in the recent NAQP-RTTY Contest and advised that the Maryland QSO Party is coming up soon. KC3NLC spoke of his moon bounce project and is application for a new vanity call now that he passed the Extra exam. Bill N3WD provided a narrative, particularly for Tom’s benefit, on contesting, the QSL card bureau system, and the Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC) . — Neil W3ZQI Secretary
