Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. The on-air portion of the event is continuous 2:00 pm. Saturday to 2:00 pm. Sunday. Set up Saturday morning begins at 7:00 am. with tear-down/packup beginning at 2:00 pm. Sunday afternoon until done.
Rockburn Disc Golf Course Parking, Elkridge, MD 21075. The site features indoor flush toilets. While Field Day activities will take place through the night, park access and exit between approx. 8:30 pm. and sometime Sunday morning is not available.
I-95; exit 43B (Rte. 100 West) one exit to Rt. 103 North, right at 1st light to Montgomery Rd, left at 1st light to stay on Montgomery, 1 mile to left at Rockburn Elementary. Park in the lot just past school and walk toward the left down access road to 1st tee. Source…
BARC members are invited as are others of the general public. Opportunities to help set up, operate, log, or just observe. Don’t be shy. This event is a solid demonstration of our motto of “When all else fails, there is amateur radio!”. An amateur radio license is not required for participation.
